The 53rd Annual Riley Children's Health Pediatric conference - the longest running pediatric continuing education conference in Indiana - addresses clinical best practices across a broad array of primary care pediatrics from infants through adolescence.

The two-day event will offer plenary presentations on Infectious Diseases, Health Care Systems, and Care Coordination programs for children with special health care needs. Hot Topics discussions will follow each Morning Plenaries with talks on how doctors can help kids coping with chronic medical illnesses, pediatric allergy to medicine, eating disorders in children and adolescents, pediatric dermatology, ophthalmology, and hypertension. Afternoon Interactive Lectures will feature topics on sports injuries, urology, high risk new-born follow-up, management of office emergencies, pediatric endocrinology, family community resources, and more.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify the challenges of treating and preventing serious infectious disease;
  2. Describe the factors that lead to medical complications related to eating disorders in children and adolescents;
  3. Identify which children would benefit from identifying risk factor;
  4. Describe how to identify strategies and resources for the immediate management of several life threatening pediatric emergencies;
  5. Discuss the guidelines for Care Coordination, medical home and other areas for improvement of quality; and
  6. Discuss with Primary Care Providers the how and why to initiate evaluations of common endocrine problems using high yield laboratory and radiologic studies.
