Overview
This one-day symposium is designed for medical oncologists, general surgeons, pharmacists, nurses and other health care professionals as a review of recent advances in breast cancer diagnosis and treatments. Guest lecturers and the Indiana University School of Medicine faculty in the field of breast cancer will share their expertise with course participants on a variety of topics relating to the care and treatment of cancer patients.

Objectives
At the end of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Recall and discuss the evolving role of surgery and radiation in management of the axilla
  2. Identify and refer appropriate patients for genetic testing, incorporate genetic testing results into treatment decisions
  3. Discuss the impact of fear of recurrence on breast cancer survivors
  4. Consider use and misuse of diagnostic imaging, review novel imaging methods
  5. List novel agents and enumerate common toxicities and management of patients treated with novel agents;
  6. Identify patients who may benefit from incorporation of immunotherapy, effectively manage IO-related toxicities
  7. Discuss the options for care of patients with TNBC
  8. Describe new approaches to management of ER+ and HER2+ breast cancer
