Overview
The RESPECT Center Conference objective is to bring together clinicians and researchers interested in evidence-based palliative and end-of-life care to help enhance clinical practice and foster new partnerships for translational research. February 26th will be the main conference for everyone who registers. February 25th will be the pre-course "Mastering Tough Conversations", which will be begin at 8:00 am and end at 4:30 pm, for those who register for the pre-course option. Pre-course Description: The practice of Hospice and Palliative Care involves conversations with patients and families that are often high stakes and involve complex emotions. This interdisciplinary full-day pre-course will be experiential, with each participant working in a small group to navigate challenging cases. The pre-course opportunities to practice frameworks for supporting patients who are receiving serious news and deliberating about goals of care, with the goal of nurturing healthier relationships with patients and families.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe best practices in palliative and hospice care for improving care of patients with serious illness
  2. Discuss strategies to improve advance care planning for patients will serious illness of all ages.
  3. Identify current challenges and opportunities in the field of palliative care.
