Breaking Barriers in Obesity Care

This symposium will provide valuable information to healthcare providers who care for patients with obesity. There are barriers both patients and health care professionals will encounter and this symposium will address these. Health care professionals interested in the content of this program are Primary Care Physicians, Specialty Care Physicians, Medical Weight Loss Physicians, Bariatric Surgeons, Pharmacists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Clinical Psychologists, Registered Dietitians, Exercise Specialists, Physical Therapists, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and Registered Nurses.

1. Identify research and practice perspectives on obesity/related disease affecting adults/children in Indiana, the promoting factors, and existing/novel treatment strategies.
2. Recognize ways to enhance treatment using nutrition, behavior health and fitness.
3. Review the potential barriers to obesity care and develop strategies. .
4. Review optimal surgical techniques for best practices and outcomes.

Pharmacists
Indiana University School of Medicine designates this activity for TBD ACPE contact hours. Pharmacists should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Credit will be provided to NABP CPE Monitor within 60 days after the activity completion.

Social Workers
Indiana University School of Medicine has been approved by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency to provide Category I Continuing Education programs. This activity qualifies for TBD Category I CEU as outlined by the Indiana Behavioral Health and Human Services Licensing Board

American Board of Surgery (ABS)
Successful completion of this CME activity, enables the learner to earn <0.0> credit toward the CME of the American Board of Surgery's Continuous Certification Program. It is the CME activity's provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABS credit. 

 Physician Assistant (AAPA) Live
Indiana University School of Medicine has been authorized by the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA), to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME criteria. Silver Level $1500

Includes name of the business/organization listed on the slide deck during announcements
1 complimentary registration which will include food and beverage
1 table and up to 2 representatives in vendor/exhibitor area

Gold Level $3000

Includes name of the business/organization listed on the slide deck during announcements
2 tables and up to 2 representatives  in vendor/exhibitor area
1 complimentary registration which will include food and beverage
Name and logo on exhibitor poster in exhibit hall (day of event)

Platinum Level $5000

Includes name of the business/organization listed on the slide deck during announcements

“Platinum Level” Podium mention during morning announcements and adjournment
2 tables and up to 4 representatives in vendor/exhibitor area
Complimentary registrations which will include food and beverage
Complimentary vendor space at the TREO Walk held 10/31/26 at IU Health North.

 

Please note - all exhibitors will:

• have easy drive-up and drop-off access to the course site for table supplies.

• be welcome to refreshments and lunch

• have access to free parking in the parking lot.

  Amenities Include:
  a. Use of a single table/chair(s) in the exhibit space (as defined by level above)
  b. Exhibitor identification signage, such as a table top sign, table runner, or banner, provided by the exhibitor, is permitted on the table.
  c. Permission for up to (see above level) stated representatives to exhibit the product/service.
  d. A single set of program materials per Exhibitor (not per representative), if program materials have been created and distributed to attendees. However, in no event will IUSM CME provide a list of program attendees in program materials given to Exhibitors.
  e. If you wish to attend presentations: remove your name tag before entering meeting space and refrain from wearing or taking items with company name/logo into meeting space. Also refrain from asking questions or leading the discussion in any ways.
  f. IU School of Medicine prohibits exhibitors from providing gifts, regardless of market value. Please do not distribute any gift items with company or product names/logos. Product brochures allowed on exhibit tables.
  g. Acknowledgment at the activity. Pursuant to ACCME SCS 6.4, such acknowledgement will not contain the logo of any individual Exhibitor.  Rather, the course director (or other CME representative) will acknowledge the exhibitors and the availability of the exhibit space generally for attendees who choose to visit it.
