Overview
Join us for “Evidence in Action: Advancing Ethical Implementation Science in Learning Health Systems” - a one-day symposium for trainees, faculty, researchers, and health professionals who are interested in the ethical application of implementation science in learning health systems (LHS) research. This year’s symposium will explore the ethical and operational challenges of using evidence to inform care. We’ll highlight how LHSs can responsibly bridge research and practice while continuously improving delivery and decision-making.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify the structural, technological, and strategic requirements for implementing and scaling sustainable learning health systems, including infrastructure investment, digital readiness, ethical research acceleration, and cross-system alignment.
  2. Apply evidence-based and ethical implementation science methods to address systemic issues and ensure the translation of research into consistent patient outcomes.
  3. Differentiate between quality improvement (QI) and research activities, and describe strategies for navigating consent, ethics, and regulatory requirements in LHS work.
  4. Develop collaborative approaches that leverage cross-sector partnerships, shared data systems, and aligned strategies to ethically advance population health and strengthen organizational learning.
  5. Analyze real-world implementation experiences, strategies for overcoming barriers, and practical insights for building learning systems at the ground level.
