Overview
The Indiana University Pulmonary Medicine Updates Conference will provide a state-of-the-art update on clinical advances in Pulmonary Medicine. This conference will cover the latest advances in diagnosis and management in the areas of pulmonary hypertension, asthma, interventional pulmonary medicine, Cystic Fibrosis, cancer treatment lung toxicity, interstitial lung diseases, COPD, and lung transplant.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Outline the current definitions of pre-, post-, and combined pre- and postcapillary pulmonary hypertension.
  2. Describe the potential impact of sotatercept on outcomes in pulmonary arterial hypertension.
  3. Discuss the criteria for selecting appropriate patients for biologic therapy in asthma.
  4. Develop a treatment plan incorporating MART or ASICS therapy for patients with asthma.
  5. Explain the role of Fractional Exhaled Nitric Oxide (FeNO) in diagnosing and managing asthma.
  6. Examine the latest advancements in robotic bronchoscopy and their clinical applications.
  7. Evaluate recent updates in bronchoscopic lung volume reduction techniques, their outcomes, and criteria for patient selection.
  8. Trace the historical milestones in the treatment of cystic fibrosis (CF) from its initial identification to the present day.
  9. Explore the development and impact of CFTR modulators and their role in transforming CF management.
  10. Identify the clinical manifestations and diagnostic criteria for checkpoint inhibitor pneumonitis (CIP)
  11. Discuss the management strategies for CIP, including the use of immunosuppressive therapies and the importance of early intervention
  12. Recognize the different types of interstitial lung diseases and how to differentiate them in a multidisciplinary setting
  13. Discuss the diagnostic approach to evaluating patients with suspected interstitial lung disease, including imaging studies and pulmonary function tests.
  14. Identify the critical information required for a successful lung transplant referral.
  15. Analyze the impact of the new Composite Allocation Score on the lung transplant wait list and compare it to previous allocation methods.
  16. Describe recent changes to this year's GOLD criteria.
  17. Briefly describe the current understanding of the immunobiology of COPD.
  18. Describe the current and future therapeutic approaches to COPD.
