Overview

This will be a diabetes technology certificate course designed to provide hands on training and knowledge on integrating technologies (such as CGMs, connected pens and insulin pumps) for optimal management of diabetes.

Target Audience and Professions:

  • Physician Assistants
  • Pharmacists
  • Pharmacy Technician
  • Diabetes educators (CDCES)
  • Nurse or Dietitian working in the diabetes field

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. To review FDA approved technologies such as CGMs, connected pens and insulin pumps for management of diabetes
  2. To review available device downloading platforms
  3. To enhance the skills on CGM and pump data review and interpretation to improve outcomes
  4. To review scientific studies on use of technologies for optimal diabetes care

Accreditation
In support of improving patient care, Indiana University School of Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.


Nurses
Indiana University School of Medicine designates this activity for a maximum of 13.25 ANCC contact hours. Nurses should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Pharmacists
