Overview

Join a nationally recognized leader in pancreas transplantation and chief of one of the busiest and most successful transplant programs in the United States. Jonathan Fridell, MD, is the Chief of Abdominal Transplantation and the Surgical Director of Pancreas Transplantation at Indiana University School of Medicine and Indiana University Health.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN: The history, discovery and treatment of diabetes. The history of pancreas transplantation, modifications and techniques. The indications and contraindications for pancreas transplantation. A brief review of current outcomes.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Recognize the history, discovery and treatment of diabetes;
  2. Describe the history of pancreas transplantation, modification and techniques;
  3. Identify the indications and the contraindications for pancreas transplantation; and
  4. Discuss current outcomes.
