Specialties - Medical Microbiology, Pharmacy, Public Health

Overview

This activity is offered online as a webinar: Opioid Use Disorder TeleECHO Clinic Webinar is led by experts at the Indiana University School of Medicine with a particular educational focus on addiction and opioid use disorder (OUD) diagnoses. The non-medical use of prescription opioid pain relievers and the use of illicit opioids such as heroin have led to an unprecedented increase in overdose deaths in Indiana.

The Opioid TeleECHO Clinic will be held in weekly one hour sessions, consisting of a brief lecture on a topic related to OUD and a review and discussion of 2-3 cases submitted by participants that we work through in a collaborative fashion to better diagnose and manage the patient.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. To identify evidence-based treatments for opioid use disorders
  2. Describe models of combining medication assisted treatment (MAT) with primary care.
  3. Understand key practices in the implementation of primary care based treatment for opioid use disorder.
  4. Identify gaps or barriers to treating OUD

Registration
Participation in the program is available at no cost to primary care providers and other stakeholders in Indiana. We would particularly like to collaborate with providers who would be interested in becoming a local expert in the field in their region of the state.
