Overview
We are excited to announce the first ever IUEM Alumni CME conference to be held in Las Vegas on Feb 29-March 1st 2024. We have named this first conference “The FEST” to inspire comradery and hope to carry on the tradition from year to year. Make sure to reserve a spot today and see an amazing group of IUEM faculty share their wisdom and knowledge with you on topics such as cardiac, pediatric, ultrasound, and legal concerns. This is a two day in person CME conference designed to provide Emergency Physicians evidenced based updates and training on a variety of high yield EM topics including cardiac emergencies, pediatric emergencies, point of care ultrasound and current medicolegal challenges in healthcare delivery. Training will be provided via both interactive didactic sessions and hands-on ultrasound training.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify and interpret recent Emergency Medicine journal articles applicable to their daily clinical practice.
  2. Provide EM Physicians a better understanding of the legal regulations that affect both EMS and how an EM physician interacts with EMS.
  3. Organize a potential pathway to professional fulfillment.
  4. Review cutting edge data on best practices for resuscitative and post-resuscitative care.
  5. Demonstrate knowledge of early diuretic dosing in AHF.
  6. Identify the utility and limitations of syncope decision instruments, including the Canadian Syncope Risk Score.
  7. Describe strategies for troubleshooting the unique physiologies associated with complex congenital heart lesions.
  8. Compare and contrast techniques for pain and anxiety control for pediatric procedures that do not require IV placement.
  9. Develop an approach to testing, stabilization, and transfer dilemmas in pediatric patients in your ED.
  10. Describe nuanced trauma presentations specific to pediatric patients, Compare and contrast pediatric and adult trauma workup and resuscitation techniques.
  11. Describe lung ultrasound findings in a patient with acute heart failure.
  12. Improve resuscitative capabilities with ultrasound.
  13. Recognize differences in peds vs adult POCUS applications.
  14. Define Medical Malpractice Stress Syndrome and discuss how it affects physician wellness.
  15. Utilize real EM medical legal cases/challenges to navigate liability hot spots in clinical practice.
  16. Diagnose retinal detachment using bedside ultrasound
