Overview
The LGBTQ Healthcare Conference is an annual conference dedicated to informing healthcare providers on the unique needs of LGBTQ patients and improving healthcare systems to better provide equitable and accessible healthcare for LGBTQ patients.


Objectives
  1. Develop and apply skills to establish rapport and ensure that LGBTQ patients feel comfortable in their healthcare setting
  2. Recognize and reduce barriers to medical care in the LGBTQ community
  3. Offer LBGTQ patients competent primary care, including the recommended USPSTF screening tests and if providers are uncomfortable providing such care, ensuring referral to a provider or clinic who will provide such care
  4. Identify the unique health risks in the LGBTQ population
  5. Recall the basic elements of LGBTQ specific healthcare

Scholarships are available to those that cannot afford the conference fee. 


Accreditation
In support of improving patient care, Indiana University School of Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Nurses
Indiana University School of Medicine designates this activity for a maximum of 11.50ANCC contact hours. Nurses should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Pharmacists

Indiana University School of Medicine designates this activity for (ACPE UAN JA4008178-0000-21-044-L01-P, JA4008178-0000-21-044-L01-T) 11.50 ACPE contact hours. Pharmacists should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Credit will be provided to NABP CPE Monitor within 60 days after the activity completion.

Social Workers

Indiana University School of Medicine has been approved by the Indiana Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist and Mental Health Counselor Board to provide Category I Continuing Education program. This activity qualifies for 11.50 Category I CEU as outlined by the Indiana Behavioral Health and Human Services Licensing Board.
