Opioid Use and Abuse

Our country is in the midst of an opioid epidemic.  In response to this epidemic, the GME office provides a 2 part modular presentation on opioids which is required to be completed for all trainees who can prescribe medications.  Speakers include law enforcement and medical specialists in pain and addiction treatment.

1. Discuss current issues with the Opioid epidemic;
2. Identify ways for providers to be more responsible in prescribing;
3. Discuss ways not to abuse prescribing privileges.
