Overview
The neuroscience of compassion has revealed how the scientific understanding of compassionate caring in healthcare is essential for both excellent patient care as well as clinician well-being and buffering burnout. In this 2.5-day workshop, participants will learn the compassion science approach as a practical means to ground us in a time when business practices and societal conditions appear to be deprioritizing compassionate caring. The workshop will provide the essentials for immediately using the compassion science paradigm in your practice, your organization, or your training program.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Discuss the scientific information on the science of compassion applied to patient care from the perspectives of biology, neuroscience, and psychology
  2. Evaluate methods for practically applying compassion science key concepts to clinical practice and clinician self-care practices
  3. Demonstrate methods for integrating the compassion science approach in healthcare organizations as well as training programs.
