Overview

This is an online event directed toward communities in and around Washington DC.

The Learn to Identify & Fight Trafficking (LIFT) curriculum is a CME-accredited training that educates healthcare providers on how to identify and support patients that have been trafficked. Registrants will watch a recorded session, with a facilitator available to answer questions and lead discussion immediately after. Following discussion, the training will conclude with an hour long discussion by local community partners including advocates, law enforcement, child protective services, nonprofit agencies, etc. to whom victims of trafficking may be referred.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the scope and prevalence of the problem of labor and sex trafficking in the United States.
  2. Recognize the warning signs that raise suspicion for human trafficking victimization.
  3. Identify how to identify and assess trafficked persons who present to the health care setting.
  4. Recall how to clinically evaluate and treat any patient suspected of being trafficked, using trauma-informed reporting techniques and local and national resources.
