Overview
The CS-PIPS (Children's Surgery Performance Improvement and Patient Safety Committee is a multidisciplinary committee responsible for continually evaluating and improving the efficiencies of processes and quality of care, including safety, provided while fostering and ensuring communication and sharing of information with other committees, leader, and staff.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Assess for opportunities for improvement in pediatric surgical mortality and morbidity cases;
  2. Assess and review safety measures and precautions during pediatric surgical cases to improve safety outcomes;
  3. Recognize and discuss specific adverse events during pre- intra, and postoperative phases of care to identify issues related to patient outcomes;
  4. Improve quality of care for pediatric surgical patients through in depth Performance Improvement review;
  5. Identify appropriate Multidisciplinary resources avalilable to children in the operating room;
  6. Identify the components of the patient's initial assessment that met the criteria for ACS defined adverse event;
  7. Discuss appropriate treatment modalities based on the patient's surgical needs;
  8. Identify variances in the care of the patient if applicable per the recommendations of the members;
  9. Assess the cause of complications for surgical injuries in pediatric patients; and
  10. Propose potential preventive interventions as applicable.
