Overview

The UNITE Against SUD Stigma ECHO is a 5-session lunch and learn series designed for medical professionals and first responders to break down stigma for individuals with substance use disorder (SUD). Each interactive session includes a presentation by experts in the field and opportunities to source questions with leaders in SUD treatment, prevention, and screening.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Summarize what stigma is and the three main forms of stigma faced by people who use substances in health settings
  2. Identify how stigma impacts the care people living with substance use disorder receive their overall health
  3. Describe the role and services of a peer recovery specialist
  4. Develop and implement strategies to prevent bias and unintended harms towards people living with substance use concerns and co-occurring conditions
