Overview
Education to providers on neurology-based topics for referring primary care providers and education. This conference will cover a variety of Epilepsy diagnoses and spine issue management.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Discuss the evolution of anti-seizure medication.
  2. Discover the mechanisms of action.
  3. Apply the right choices of medication.
  4. Recognize interactions with other medications.
  5. Identify cannabis interactions with other medications.
  6. Name and differentiate the tests performed as part of a refractory epilepsy workup.
  7. Describe the reasons to order or not order specific tests as part of a refractory epilepsy workup.
  8. Describe the expected findings and limitations of tests performed as part of a refractory epilepsy workup.
  9. Explore the history of biomagnetism and magnetoencephalography (MEG)
  10. Describe the differences between MEG and EEG and how they can complement one another.
  11. Explore different clinical scenarios in which MEG should be considered in the presurgical evaluation paradigm of patients with pharmacoresistant epilepsy
  12. Recognize the risks and potential benefits of both procedures: Resection or Ablation.
  13. Determine the need for invasive monitoring with stereo EEG electrodes.
  14. Discuss how to use invasive monitoring, including planning and results.
  15. Review functional mapping and exploration in finding the epileptogenic zone and functional cortex.
  16. Describe the outcomes of invasive monitoring.
  17. Examine future directions in stereo EEG.
