Overview

Point of care ultrasound (POCUS) is a powerful instrument in the hands of physicians who seek to use an imaging tool to aid in diagnosis and procedural guidance at the bedside. This course highlights cases that guide the learner through various levels of pathological difficulty. Each case has its own unique learning points that aim to engage the learner through videos and course interactions. Cases are formatted by exam type and learners can quickly navigate from one case to the next.

Launch Date: 08/14/2023

Expiration Date: 08/13/2026

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Differentiate between normal and abnormal sonographic findings for the following point of care ultrasound exam types: Cardiac, Soft Tissue, Early Pregnancy, Renal, DVT, ocular and FAST exams.
  2. Describe the significance of lung sliding on a point of care ultrasound exam and accurately detect the presence or absence of lung sliding for a given patient at the bedside.
  3. Analyze how a variety of cardiac findings on point of care ultrasound can assist in determining reversible causes of cardiac arrest and prognosticating on likelihood of return of spontaneous circulation.
