Pursuit of the 3Cs: Confident, Concise and Consistent Health Care Provider Recommendations for Adolescent Vaccinations

Pursuit of the 3Cs: Confident, Concise and Consistent Health Care Provider Recommendations for Adolescent Vaccinations Banner

  • Overview
  • Faculty
  • Tests

Date & Location
Wednesday, July 19, 2023, 6:00 AM - Friday, July 18, 2025, 6:00 PM

Target Audience
Specialties - Adolescent Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Pediatrics, Preventive Medicine, Primary Care, Public Health

Overview

The 3Cs videos provide learners with guidance on how to make a clear, consistent and concise presumptive recommendation for all ACIP recommended vaccines for adolescents. The videos take learners through a series of vignettes which portray increasing resistance from parents about whether or not their child should receive the vaccines. The videos demonstrate and provide strategies that learners can implement in their practice when faced with acceptors, cautious acceptors, and hesitant parents. The videos will also be accompanied by a 3Cs Provider Toolkit which will include an FAQ document to help providers answer the questions most commonly asked by parents about adolescent vaccines, a motivational interviewing (MI) tip sheet, and background information about the vaccines and the diseases they help prevent.

Launch Date: 07/19/2023

Expiration Date: 07/18/2025

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify differences in parents who may be cautious and information-seeking versus those who may be hesitant to accept a healthcare provider’s vaccine recommendations
  2. Practice confident, concise and consistent adolescent vaccine recommendations and responses to a broad array of parent questions and objections
  3. Support parents and teens making vaccine acceptance decisions by employing motivational interviewing techniques, and shared clinical decision-making when appropriate
