Overview

Used as a focused diagnostic tool, Point of Care Ultrasound is increasingly used throughout clinical medicine. The purpose of this online enduring activity is to provide the participant with fundamental knowledge and skills for performing a focused exam for soft tissue and musculoskeletal structures.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. List common indications for performing a soft tissue POCUS exam
  2. Describe the sonographic soft tissue anatomy
  3. Differentiate common soft tissue pathologies seen during a soft tissue POCUS exam
  4. Recognize the limitations of the soft tissue POCUS exam
  5. List common indications for performing a Musculoskeletal US exam
  6. Describe how to obtain an image of a tendon in long and short axis, joint spaces, cortical bone, and muscle tissue
  7. Identify common pathologic conditions seen on an MSK US exam
  8. Recognize the limitations of an MSK US exam
