Overview

Do you want to improve your infant neurological assessments in your clinical practice? Do you wish you had a scoreable test that helps you decide whether an infant would benefit from a referral to subspecialists or therapy services? The Hammersmith Infant Neurological Examination (HINE) is a standardized neurological examination for infants from 2 – 24 months of age. Because the HINE is relatively brief (less than 5 minutes) and easy to perform, it’s use is growing in clinical settings . The HINE is part of the pathway to early identification of cerebral palsy. 

This is a half day in-person course held on a Saturday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Designed for pediatricians, family practice physicians, and others providing primary healthcare to children. This course will review current scientific advances as they apply to daily practice. Participants will advance their diagnostic and preventive skills through this practical evidence-based review.

Registration is limited to 30 learners.

-             Practice on live babies
-             Part 2- Interpreting the Score
-             Part 3 – Implementation of the HINE
-             Final test


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Perform the HINE, a standardized neurological assessment for infants 2-24 months of age.
  2. Observe how the use of the HINE can aid in early identification of cerebral palsy in high-risk infants.
  3. Analyze how HINE is helpful in addition to caring for infants with gross motor delays
