Overview

Used as a focused diagnostic tool, Point of Care Ultrasound is increasingly used throughout clinical medicine. The purpose of this online enduring activity is to provide the participant with fundamental knowledge in machine operation, ultrasound physics, and how to perform a focused exam for fluid assessment and kidneys & bladder.

Launch Date: 8/30/2022

Expiration Date: 8/29/2025

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Apply the fundamentals of ultrasound physics and machine controls when performing point of care ultrasound examinations.
  2. Implement proper ultrasound scan techniques when performing fluid assessment and kidney/bladder point of care ultrasound examinations.
  3. Identify normal anatomy on fluid assessment and kidney/bladder point of care ultrasound examinations
  4. Critique ultrasound image characteristics to determine if fluid is present in the pleural space, pericardial space, and peritoneum.
  5. Critique ultrasound image characteristics to determine findings of hydronephrosis and urinary retention.
