Overview

LIFT uses an evidence-based curriculum to dispel common myths of HT; engage local community stakeholders so health professionals may connect their patients to local medical, legal, and social services; and equip health professionals with specific tools to build HT protocols for their respective institutions. By engaging health professionals directly in multiple cities and states, PATH and the LIFT curriculum assist victims of trafficking both locally and on a national level.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity participants should be able to:

  1. describe the scope of the problem of HT in the United States
  2. recognize the warning signs that raise suspicion for HT victimization
  3. incorporate a trauma-informed approach to the screening of suspected victims of trafficking into routine practice
  4. memorize the number for the National Human Trafficking Hotline
  5. clinically evaluate and treat any patient suspected of being trafficked

Indiana University School of Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
