Overview
Designed for Nurses and APPs specializing in Neonatology, this continuing education meeting addresses clinical best practices across a broad array of topics involving the care of infants. This live activity will include didactic lectures, case presentations and Q&A sessions to create a highly interactive environment for the learners.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the criteria for whole body cooling in neonates with suspected hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy.
  2. Explain the benefits of using non-invasive respiratory support to decrease BPD morbidity risk.
  3. Summarize the principles of antibiotic stewardship in the neonatal intensive care unit.
  4. Utilize evidence-based recommendations to promote growth and nutrition in the very low birth weight infant.
  5. Recognize the essentials of clinical assessment, pharmacologic management, and non-pharmacologic management of infants with neonatal abstinence syndrome.
  6. Explain the key features and facilitators of best practices in neonatal palliative care and bereavement.

Accreditation

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of Indiana University School of Medicine and Indiana University Health. The Indiana University School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Indiana University School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
