Overview
Discover new options for for effectively managing Parkinson’s Disease at this day-long multidisciplinary approach. Information will be presented from a variety of clinical viewpoints, helping to enhance future collaboration across the healthcare continuum of care.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the most common symptoms of Parkinson’s disease;
  2. Describe the accepted pathogenesis of Parkinson’s disease;
  3. Describe the most common treatments for Parkinson’s disease and their methods of action;
  4. Identify prevalence of speech and voice disorders in Parkinson Disease and importance of early intervention;
  5. Review current pharmacotherapy recommendations for Parkinson’s Disease;
  6. Recall safety precautions to follow when caring for Deep Brain Stimulation patients;
  7. Identify the role of occupational therapy for PD;
  8. Identify current literature related to the various types of therapy intervention for PD patients;
  9. Compare and contrast the benefits and limitations of varied modes of exercise across the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF); and
  10. Assess and select appropriate outcome measures for individuals with Parkinson Disease across the continuum of disease progression.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of Indiana University School of Medicine and Indiana University Bloomington Hospital. The Indiana University School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

IU Health Bloomington designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.0 Nurse CE’s. Nurses should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participations in the activity.This activity has been approved for 6 Knowledge based CE credit hours for pharmacists by Indiana University Health. No Partial credit will be awarded. IU Health is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. UAN# 0855-9999-18-032-L01-P. Participants must complete an online learning assessment and evaluation in order to receive an ACPE Statement of Credit. The evaluation must be completed within 30 days of the program date to receive CE credit for attending the live program. It typically takes about 6 weeks from the date of the program to process these requests. Statements of credit may be printed off of the NABP website, after the program has been processed by IU Health, ACPE, and NABP.6.0 CEU’s are pending for physical and occupational therapists.
6.0 CEUs are pending for Social Workers and Speech Therapists.
