Overview

Autism Spectrum Disorder: Update on Diagnosis and Treatment

The IU School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry is pleased to welcome Catherine Lord, Ph.D. as the guest speaker for the 41st Annual Arthur B. Richter Conference in Child Psychiatry. Dr. Lord is Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry and founding Director of the Center for Autism and the Developing Brain (CADB), at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell Medicine, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in collaboration with New York Collaborates for Autism.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Recall and apply new diagnostic criteria for autistic spectrum disorders;
  2. Discuss and use screening and diagnostic measures for ASD;
  3. Identify evidence-based psychosocial treatments for ASD;
  4. Recognize and apply evidence-based medications for targeted symptoms in children with ASD; and
  5. Utilize resources in the community for children with ASD and their families.

The Indiana University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
