Overview

The 4th Annual Midwest CME Providers Conference is designed to explore best practices from various providers and be a way to explore new and innovative ways of providing CME. We are excited about this event and we have lined up an impressive list of presenters representing large and small providers. With that said, if you attend be prepared to share – this conference is about sharing best practices. The general format of the meeting will be short presentations with lots of round table discussions. The planning team is from Norton Healthcare; Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine; the University of Louisville School of Medicine; the Indiana University School of Medicine; and the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine.

IUPUI Campus Center, 420 University Blvd., Indianapolis, IN 46202, Conference Rooms 450 B/C, 4th floor. 

Parking:
Visitor parking is available in the Vermont Street garage and access to the Campus Center via walk way is on the East side of the garage and on the 3rd floor. Parking is $10 for 6 hours of parking. Please see HERE for a parking map.

Thursday, October 11  Conference - $25 (snacks & lunch included)

The registration for the pre-workshops is now closed since we reached maximum capacity, however you are still able to register for the conference on October 11.

Pre-Workshop: CME Basics Bootcamp

In this focused, half-day workshop, CME newcomers will learn the fundamentals of planning and implementing CME activities. The format of the course will include pre-workshop reading, interactive lectures and group activities.

Topics to be covered include:
• AMA PRA requirements and how they fit into the CME accreditation system.
• ACCME/State Medical Society accreditation criteria, standards and policies.
• How to determine educational needs, gaps, objectives and formats.
• How to identify, resolve and disclose financial relationships.
• How to measure, analyze and use educational outcomes.
• Next steps and resources for your own professional development.

 


Pre-Workshop: Increase Value through Problem Solving: An Introduction to Lean Process Improvement

This session will provide participants with information on what Lean process improvement is, how waste is identified and minimized, and the importance of integrating the "voice of customer" into new and innovative solutions. In addition, the session will detail the Plan-Do-Check-Act problem solving methodology and how to apply this methodology within the workplace to address various organizational challenges and issues. Lean tools, root cause analysis tactics, and success measurement techniques will be introduced. The session will also highlight examples of how Lean has been beneficial and applicable within medical education, student services, finance, human resources, and other administrative processes within the university and the School of Medicine.

Group dialogue throughout the session will enable participants to jump start the application of Lean towards a specific problem solving opportunity within their own work space. Participants will leave the session with take home reference materials and insights applicable to any circumstance and setting.
