This one-day symposium is designed for medical oncologists, general surgeons, pharmacists, nurses and other health care professionals as a review of recent advances in breast cancer diagnosis and treatments. Three guest lecturers and the Indiana University School of Medicine faculty in the field of breast cancer will share their expertise with course participants on a variety of topics relating to the care and treatment of cancer patients.

Help us make sure the symposium meets your needs. Prior to the symposium participants have the opportunity to submit cases or important questions/controversies they would like to be addressed at the symposium. Please email cases and questions directly to Dr. Kathy Miller at [email protected]. Please submit these by January 19th. We will also take cases and questions at the symposium.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Recall and discuss changes in local/regional cancer management;
  2. Distinguish single gene and panel testing, enumerate risk factors for germline mutations;
  3. Identify novel agents and enumerate the toxicities and appropriate management of patients treated with novel agents;
  4. List the potential benefits and risks associated with advanced breast imaging; and
  5. Discuss the status of immunotherapy in the treatment of breast cancer.

Preregistration will close on Wednesday, January 24, 2018. If you plan to attend, please register on-site at the registration desk.

A fee of $50 for healthcare providers and $100 for non-exhibiting industry representatives has been set for this program. This fee includes a link to the online syllabus, continental breakfast, break refreshments, and lunch. Medical students, residents, and fellows in-training may attend free of charge; however, registration is required.

Cancellation Policy
All registration fees will be refunded if cancellation is made before January 19, 2017. 



Accreditation

The Indiana University School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Indiana University School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 5.25 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit."

Continuing Nursing Education

Indiana University Health is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Ohio Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. (OBN-001-91) (OH-412, 6/1/2019)

Nurses will receive 5.25 contact hours for time in attendance and submission of an evaluation.

Continuing Pharmacy Education

This activity has been approved for 5.25 ACTIVITY BASED CE credit hours for pharmacists by Indiana University Health.  Pharmacists should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of his/her participation in the activity. IU Health is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education UAN# 0855-9999-17-051-L01-P

Speaker and Program evaluations will be distributed to you through your e-mail address following the conference.  Please look in your e-mail inbox for an invitation to complete the evaluation.  

Participants must complete the Speaker and Program Evaluation in order to receive an ACPE Statement of Credit.  The evaluation must be completed within 30 days after the program date. ACPE Statements of Credit may then be printed off of the NABP website, after the program has been processed by IU Health, ACPE and NABP. Please allow 4-6 weeks for processing.
