Physician burnout is an epidemic in the US. Burnout - emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and reduced perception of personal accomplishment - is very high and has soared in recent years. Fifty or more percent for doctors in internal medicine, emergency and family medicine, and critical care. Rates of women physicians burnout are 50 to 60% higher than their male colleagues’.
