Genome Board: Undiagnosed Rare Disease Clinic - 8/28/2026

Genome Board is a forum for multidisciplinary team of clinical providers, laboratorians, researchers, and students to discuss the cases of patients after being seen in URDC with a detailed discussion of variants, genomic, transcriptomic, and metabolic information. The URDC team is dedicated to resolving the medical mystery for patients who have a variety of symptoms, have seen numerous providers, and have completed extensive genetic testing (specifically exome sequencing), but still have no clear answers about their condition. The team is focused on the evaluation, analysis, and interpretation of a patient’s condition to uncover the underlying genetic reason for the clinical presentation.

1. Summarize the utility and limitations of Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) in patients with undiagnosed rare disease
2. Explain how Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) and RNA sequencing can increase the diagnostic yield for patients with undiagnosed rare disease
3. Summarize the goals of a multidisciplinary team approach that integrates phenotypic and genomic data to aid in the diagnosis of patients with rare disease
4. Explain how collaborations can form between URDC and researchers to investigate rare variants or describe novel diseases
