Overview
The Comprehensive Pain Management ECHO is an interprofessional, case-based continuing education program designed to strengthen clinicians’ ability to manage chronic pain using evidence-based, patient-centered, and team-based approaches. Through twice-monthly virtual ECHO sessions, participants engage with peers and an interprofessional hub team to review de-identified cases, discuss best practices, and apply current evidence related to chronic pain, opioid stewardship, non-opioid and non-pharmacologic therapies, behavioral health, substance use disorder, and compassionate communication. The program is intended for physicians, pharmacists, advanced practice nurses, physical therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals involved in caring for patients with chronic pain.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Apply evidence-based approaches to assess and manage patients with chronic pain using a patient-centered framework.
  2. Identify appropriate pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic, and behavioral health strategies to support chronic pain management and improve patient function.
  3. Incorporate opioid stewardship principles, including risk assessment, monitoring, harm reduction, and tapering considerations, into chronic pain care.
  4. Develop interprofessional care strategies for complex chronic pain cases, including patients with behavioral health, substance use, or social needs.
  5. Use case-based recommendations and peer consultation to improve treatment planning, care coordination, and communication with patients experiencing chronic pain.
