Overview

Please join us on Saturday, August 11th, 2018 in Indianapolis at IU Health Neuroscience Center for the first annual Lung Transplant Symposium.

It will be an exciting day of education coupled with an opportunity for networking with pulmonologists from across the state and region.  Hosted by the Lung Transplant Program at Indiana University Health, this event will focus on innovations and advancements in the care of patients with advanced lung diseases and provide an update on lung transplantation.  Registration and corresponding CME credits are complimentary.

Topics for the event include:

  • Update and Management of Advanced Lung Disease (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, Orphan and Cystic Lung Disease, Pulmonary Hypertension and Lung Salvage and ECMO)
  • The Journey of Lung Transplantation (Referral to Listing, Indications for Referral, Center of Life for Thoracic Transplant, ABC of Infections in Lung Transplant)
  • Advances in Lung Transplantation (ECMO and Lung Transplant, IPF and PAH, Technical Surgical Challenges in Lung Transplant, Ex Vivo Lung Perfusion)

Our panel of experts will field questions as well as provide case studies for discussion throughout the day.
Following a day of education, we invite you to join us for an evening social time at the Indianapolis Indians game at Victory Field in downtown Indianapolis. Complimentary tickets will be provided as part of your event registration for you and your family/spouse.



Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
  1. Appropriately refer patients for lung transplant;
  2. Appropriately refer patients for pulmonary rehabilitation;
  3. Recognize benefits of lung transplant; and
  4. Communicate lung transplant evaluation and expectations of a lung transplant patient.
