The IU Health Obesity Symposium will provide valuable information to providers who care for patients with obesity.

Health professionals who will be interested in the content of this program are Primary Care Physicians, Specialty Care Physicians, Medical Weight Loss Physicians, Bariatric Surgeons. Pharmacists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Clinical Psychologists, Registered Dietitians, Exercise Specialists, Physical Therapists, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and Registered Nurses.


At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
  1. Recite the eligibility criteria, risks, benefits, and outcomes of bariatric surgery;
  2. Identify patients at risk for vitamin deficiencies after bariatric surgery and offer appropriate treatment; and
  3. Recognize effective ways to discuss with patients the impact of obesity on outcomes and need for its effective treatment.
