At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
  1. Discuss the systemic effects of tobacco
  2. Discuss tobacco and oral effects from a cellular perspective
  3. Understand the nature of tobacco dependency and nicotine addiction
  4. Learn tobacco cessation pharmacotherapies and given a client, select appropriate applications
  5. Incorporate behavioral interventions (such as motivational interviewing) with clients who use tobacco
  6. Differentiate between brief and extended interventions as options in delivering tobacco cessation advice
  7. Identify resources for patient education in tobacco cessation
