Overview

To highlight strategies to optimize asthma control, prevention and treatment from both medical and lay person standpoints. • Optimize asthma control, clinically and in a larger societal context—environmental, financial and mental health • Increase health literacy around asthma treatment and control among youth and adults • Promote strategies for supporting individuals with asthma in various settings.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Apply new knowledge about the asthma treatment guidelines
  2. Identify core concepts in the asthma treatment guidelines.
  3. Increase audience knowledge regarding indoor air quality at home and school in relation to asthma control.
  4. Increase participants comfort level and knowledge of the role of community resources in helping patients and improving their environments.
  5. Clinicians and care team will utilize knowledge and resources to improve asthma care.
  6. Participants will learn about the interaction between asthma and environmental triggers.
  7. Caregivers of all types will have resources to provide to their patients about how to avoid environmental triggers.
