Samantha Burton graduated from Purdue University College of Pharmacy in 2017. She then completed a basics in medication safety, quality, and informatics fellowship with MCPHS University/St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA. Following this, she was a safe medication management fellow at the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) in Horsham, PA where she had the opportunity to participate in the development of the 2020 smart pump guidelines. This project experience led her to her current role at Cleveland Clinic where she is a medication safety pharmacist with a primary focus on the safe use of smart pump technology. She manages various drug libraries for the health system, analyzes smart pump data for continuous quality improvement, and investigates medication events related to smart pumps.
